Welcome To Agoura Hills

Agoura is on the eastern edge of the Conejo Valley, so it’s closest to LA. It’s a small town with an old world rural vibe, yet quick access to the city.  Even though Agoura is part of the Conejo Valley, it is not in Ventura County… it’s in Los Angeles County.

Like the other areas of the Conejo Valley, Agoura has a laidback lifestyle. The older part of town, known as Old Agoura, has a lot of horse properties and trails that line the streets in the community.

Agoura has everything from condos, to some of the nicest estates in the area.  It is one of the pricer towns in the Conejo Valley… and it’s also one of the hotter towns – Sometimes 10 degrees hotter than other parts of the Conejo Valley in the summer.

Agoura Hills is gorgeous with its open space and hiking trails.  Many homes have beautiful mountain views. There is a strong sense of community here, and an old school neighborhood vibe (think: lemonade stands in the summer)

Boundaries

Agoura Hills is on the eastern edge of the Conejo Valley. It’s also the closest town to LA, so if you commute, Agoura is your ideal spot for saving on drive time.

Agoura Hills is bordered by Oak Park to the north, Westlake to the west, Calabasas to the east, and the Santa Monica Mountains to the south… it’s a 10- 15 min scenic drive over to Malibu.

Places of Interest

  • The Canyon Club– an intimate music venue known for featuring many old-school favorite bands. People from all over LA come here for the live music. While you’re here, be sure to eat at my favorite restaurants: Basta (for the best Florentine-style Italian food outside of Florence) or Plata (get the tacos, and margaritas… you’re welcome:)
  • Old Agoura Park – in the Old Agoura part of Agoura Hills, feels like a step back in time to when California was the wild west. Be prepared to see horses! This park hosts many community events throughout the year, including outdoor movie nights.
  • The Old Place – offers a memorable dining experience that is one-of-a-kind. Tucked away in the hills of Agoura, this ex-general store turned restaurant serves fresh, local food, cooked over fire.  In a setting that feels like something out of a Western film, and tells a story of the rich history of Agoura Hills.
  • Cornell Winery & Tasting Room – next door to The Old Place (and owned by the same family)

Schools

Agoura Hills is part of the Las Virgenes School District, which is one of the best school districts in California.

Many families venture out here from LA County for the fabulous schools, and tight knit community.

Much like the Conejo Valley School District, the Las Virgenes School District is School of Choice, which means you don’t have to attend the school you are assigned to based on your address.
